WCYF Upcoming Events

Here is the info from the FFA meeting on Monday, March 2 in case you could not make it or you misplaced any copies. We discussed the following.

Parent Work Rule (make sure you sign up if you have not, on the fair website, the fair will deduct $500 from your check/fine you if you do not sign up and work) 

Upcoming fair dates - Know them and know when you are supposed to be whereFair Scholarship is Due March 4th to Mrs. Quinn (TODAY)

Be sure to read the "Exhibitor - Parent Newsletter" about fair questions, parking, packets, sale and scratch information, etc. 

KNOW the rules and the rules for your species! If you have questions please ask us! 

The fair will pull grades this week! Please make sure you are passing! 

 Packet pick up dates are March 18 & 19 from 4-6pm at the fair office (you must pick up your packet in order to show! It will have important info in it that you will need at the show! First time Cattle & Swine meetings are also on March 18 from 5-7pm if you are a first time exhibitor of these species please know when your meetings. 

Don't forget cattle will need palpation certificate 

Buyer letters! Please go ahead and create and send out buyer's to send to businesses, if you need help writing one or want to see an example please let me know.

Upcoming Dates & Important Information

WCYF Parent Work Rule Info 
(this is copied & pasted from the fair website, questions should be directed to the fair): 
A parent/guardian of any exhibitor exhibiting a project at the Wharton County Youth Fair (excluding Bucket Calf) is required to work a minimum of three (3) hours per exhibitor. If a parent cannot work the 3 hours, they can have a family member or friend work in their place. Anyone working must be 21 years old or older. Parents/Guardian must sign up before March 1, 2026. Parents choosing not to work a three (3) hour shift will be assessed a fee of $500 per exhibitor. Parents/Guardian of exhibitors who choose not to work must make payment to the Fair Office by March 1st.No changes of work hours will be accepted after March 2, 2026. Please DO NOT CALL THE FAIR OFFICE. Remember you MUST DO the following at the event to qualify:- Sell entire packet (meal and raffle tickets, comes out to $175)- Bring a dessert and an auction item or sell 2 gun raffle tickets- Students must work the event...in the morning and the evening of the event *if you signed up for kitchen duty in the morning please bring a knife for chopping onions, potatoes and bacon.*
Please wear a FFA shirt to the fair fund event if you have one,also  please dress in school appropriate attire as well and be on your best behavior. This is a nice event where the community has a chance to meet members of Wharton FFA, let's represent ourselves well. 

Wharton FFA Progress Show: 

Event Date: February 8, 2026 at 1pm
All are invited to the event. It is not mandatory for each person who is exhibiting a project under Wharton FFA or Jr. FFA, but we would like for everyone to attend to gain experience in the show ring as well as receive advice from a judge in order to better prepare for the county fair in March.

If you are already planning on showing a pen of rabbits please go ahead and enter them, do not wait until the last minute

Vertical Raise Fundraiser: Starts February 9, 2026. 
We will be doing the same online fundraiser as last semester to help alleviate the cost of contests, progress show awards and to prepare for the upcoming FFA banquet. We will be adding an option of purchasing popcorn as well this time where the popcorn will be delivered straight to the purchaser. Be on the lookout for that!

Our officers have  worked very hard designing our annual Wharton FFA chapter shirt for this school year! 

Here is the link to purchase a FFA t shirt as well 

Just click on the link in order to purchase! I will be picking up all the orders from The Screen Stop and bringing them back to the ag building to be passed out to everyone accordingly. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know! The link will close on Oct. 6. Orders will take about a week or so to get in.

Join us for our 1st FFA meeting of the 2025-2026 School year! High School students must be in ag class in order to participate either Mr. Schulz, Mr. Witzkoski or Mrs. Witzkoski's classes and Jr. FFA members must at least be in the 3rd - 8th grade to be eligible. Parents are highly encouraged to attend! See y'all there! August 25, 2025- FFA Meeting @ Ag Building @ 6:30pm
